Questions

How long does setup take?

An afternoon. The starter steps and the "Your first week" and "Security basics" packs get you most of the way; then add your own links and questions.

Do new hires need accounts?

No. They open your link or type the code, pick a character, and they're in. You see their progress under the name they use.

Does it work with our tools?

Any step can link to your handbook, forms, HR system or videos. Single sign-on is planned for paid plans.

Is it private?

Your space is yours: only people with the link come in, and you can lock it or remove someone. We keep data small; see safety and privacy.

What does it cost?

Forty-six things to place, stack and paint: furniture, trees, slides, tents, trampolines, rockets, building blocks and, for Halloween, jack-o'-lanterns, ghosts and a bubbling cauldron. Everyone sees it as it goes up.

Islands to fly between

Add up to four more islands, each with its own world and look. Walk up to the plane at the airport and fly; from up high the island looks like a little model. Teachers can take the whole class on a field trip.

Hide and seek

Seekers count to thirty with their eyes covered while everyone hides, then go looking. Name tags hide too, and nobody can jump across the island, so you have to walk.

Nobody arrives on an empty island: Pip, Lola and Max walk their rounds, come over to say hola and tell tips and jokes. Lola gives tours ("Follow me!"), and around Halloween Max sneaks up behind you. BOO!

Make the island yours

Pick a theme and a time of day for your space: snow falls on the snowy island, leaves drift in autumn, sparkles float over candy and bats flit about on Halloween, with jack-o'-lanterns to build. At night the stars come out and the lamps light up. Or move the whole place into an enchanted forest with glowing mushrooms, or a city campus with a skyline.

The question goes up on the big screen and everyone runs to the colored pad of their answer. When time is up, the right pad lights up and points go to whoever stood on it. Write your own questions or paste a list, then start it by standing on the pads.

The school edition starts locked down, collects as little as possible and keeps the teacher in charge. Only your school can open things up.

No student accountsStudents join with a class code. No emails, no passwords.
Generated namesStudents are "Happy Otter" or "Brave Fox", not their real names, unless your school chooses otherwise.
Friendly phrasesChat is a menu of kind phrases. Nothing is typed unless your school turns typing on.
No voice or videoMicrophones and cameras stay off unless your school turns them on for a class.
Teacher controlsPause everyone, call the class over, mute or remove someone, lock the space, and choose who builds and draws.

Privacy in plain words

Students have no accountsThey join with a class code and a made-up name. We keep their stars and progress for their school, and nothing more.
Chat and voice aren't keptChat goes only to the people in the space. Voice and video go between browsers, encrypted, and are never stored.
No ads, no selling dataWe count visits to our website and dashboard, never on the islands, and in Europe and the UK only if you say yes.
Delete any timeForget a student or a whole class from the dashboard, or delete your account and everything in it.
A stricter public islandNo voice or webcams, chat filtered harder, and what visitors build disappears when they leave.

For IT and administrators

Devices: Chromebooks, Windows and Mac laptops, iPads and phones, with a current Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. Nothing to install.
Network: allow hablatabla.com over HTTPS (port 443), including WebSockets. Voice and video go between browsers and fall back to a relay on 443 when a network blocks direct connections.
Sign-in and email: teachers sign in with email or Google, so allow Google's sign-in pages if you use them, and email from hablatabla.com.
Data: hosted in the United States, and everything travels encrypted. Students have no accounts; what we keep, and for how long, is in the privacy policy.
Paperwork: we sign data protection agreements with schools and districts.

Questions

Do we need VR headsets or an app?

No. It runs in a web browser on laptops, Chromebooks, iPads and desktops. Open the link and you're in.

Do students need an account or email?

No. The teacher creates the space; students join with its code and get a generated name.

Can I write my own lessons?

Yes. Edit the starter lessons or add your own in the dashboard: a short text, one question and two to four answers. Changes appear on the island straight away.

How many people can be in one space?

Up to 50 at a time, which covers a class or a big onboarding group.

Is there voice chat or video?

In the team edition, yes: proximity voice, so people talk to whoever is near them, and an optional webcam bubble over your character. In the school edition both are off unless your school turns them on for a class. The public demo islands have neither.

Can students build things?

Yes, when the teacher allows it. In a class space only the teacher builds and draws at first; one switch lets everyone. People can only change what they built themselves, and the teacher can clear it all.

Can I try it without an account?

Yes: walk around the school island or the team island. They're public demo islands; make your own space when you want a private link, your own lessons and progress.

Is the public demo safe for children?

It's open to anyone, so we keep it careful: no voice, webcams or screen sharing, chat filtered more strictly and with contact details hidden, and reports reach us. What visitors build disappears when they leave. Children should still try it with an adult; for a class, make a free class space, where only your students come in.

What does Habla Tabla mean?

"Habla" is Spanish for "talk". It's a place to talk, play and learn together, and the characters throw in a few Spanish words along the way.

Does it work on iPads and phones?

Yes. On touch screens there's a joystick, a jump button and the same phone, camera and building tools as on a laptop.

About

A little island that started at home

Habla Tabla began as a weekend game with our founder's daughters, and grew into a place where classes and teams learn together.

How it started

It was hide and seek with friends on one little island. The girls designed every character and outfit. Then came a fountain to hide behind, a plane to other islands and a quiz show you answer by running, until it was too good to keep to ourselves.

Today Habla Tabla is a place where a class or a team meets, learns and plays together, right in the browser: with the safety schools need, and the tools teachers and trainers want.

Who's behind it

Habla Tabla is made by KONSTANTLY, LLC, a small software company based in Virginia. Konstantin Andreev founded it in 2022, after years of working in education and immersive technology. The company also makes Konstantly, a learning platform, and Scenics.

Accessibility

We want everyone in a class or team to take part. Here's what works today, where a 3D world has limits, and how to reach us.

What works today

The website and the dashboard aim for WCAG 2.1 AA: readable contrast, labels for screen readers, and everything reachable with the keyboard, with a clear focus ring.
On the island, everything has a keyboard control, and lessons, quizzes and chat are text you can read at your own pace.
When your device asks for less motion, the website and the island move less.
Voice is never required: text chat (or, in School, friendly phrases) works everywhere.
Lighter graphics in the phone's Settings help older devices keep up.

Where a 3D world has limits

Walking around the island needs sight and some fine control of a keyboard, mouse or touch screen. A classmate or colleague can walk alongside, and hosts can bring everyone to one place with a click.
Screen readers can't describe the 3D scene itself; stations, quizzes and the chat are text.
Fast games like a race or hide and seek can be hard for some; hosts choose which games run.
